Coleman Stove

All About Coleman Stove

There are many different types of Coleman stoves on the market today.  Since people have different needs and wants concerning the camping stove they purchase, Coleman has designed several different kinds to meet those needs.  All of the Coleman stoves have accessories that are available for purchase.  One stove is even made especially for rock climbers!  Both the canister and the liquid-fuel hanging stoves can be adapted to hang on the side of a mountain!

The backpacking stoves are great for the person who likes to strap on a backpack and go for an overnight hike.  There are different kinds of backpacking stoves.  Backpack propane stoves, backpack canister stoves, and backpack wood stoves are all available from Coleman.  Probably the best type of gas to use with a backpacking stove is canister gas.  It is light and very portable.  Be sure to read the safety guidelines that come with the backpack stove.  Backpack stoves are best for only one or two people.

There are dual fuel stoves on the market today.  This is convenient because two different fuels can be used.  White gas or unleaded gas will both work in a dual fuel stove.  In areas where unleaded gas in a container may be prohibited, a dual fuel stove using white gas would be suitable.   White gas is liquid fuel which comes in a quart or gallon containers.  White gas is inexpensive to buy.  You simply pour as much fuel as you need into your stove's refillable canister.  You need only carry as much fuel as needed, so you can keep pack weight low. For long campsite stays with a big group, a dual fuel stove is recommended.  This stove used with white gas works well in cold weather and high elevations.

For campsite use, why not consider a Luxury camping stoveThis is a two-burner propane camp stove.  Many of these come with a lifetime warranty.  They have rust-resistant stainless-steel and aluminum construction. It weighs about 23-pounds.  The Luxury stove folds compactly for carrying, but unfolds to show convenient features like a cutting board, towel rack and utensil storage.  Each burner gives off 15,000 BTUs of heat, but adjusts easily for simmering.  Some models  can use disposable propane canisters or refillable propane tanks.

Perhaps the most common of all the Coleman stoves is the propane stove.  Most propane stoves are made of rust-proof stainless-steel and aluminum. They have fold-out windscreens.  Most models use convenient, easy to use propane fuel, plus push-button ignition. The burners are set further apart than on most camping stoves, so it's easier to use a skillet, griddle or large pots.  Each burner puts out 12,000 BTU of heat.

Not only are good camping stoves essential to a successful camping trip, but they can also be used in disaster situations.  If you want to keep your evacuation kit in your vehicle, an alcohol stove is a good choice.  Alcohol is a better fuel for long-lasting emergencies, too, because it's more apt to be available over the long haul.  Most camping stoves that can burn white gas can also burn unleaded gasoline. This type of stove would be good for longer emergencies. Some stoves can burn kerosene, giving you even more options.  Kerosene is safe and less toxic than unleaded gasoline. Quite a few single-burner camping stoves, such as the Coleman Apex II, can burn kerosene as well as white gas and unleaded gasoline. This stove is fine as a disaster-preparation stove.
