Choices in Family Camping Stoves

Camping gear is an adventure no matter how you decide to camp.  Some individuals find more adventure by packing a backpack with the essentials and heading out.  Others like to stay nearer to civilization with campgrounds.  In either case you will need camping equipment to make the experience one of the best.  When you are camping you don’t just need a tent, a little food, and a sleeping bag; you also need something to cook with.  You will find that the summer months are extremely popular with camping trips for families.  You will also realize that during the summer months depending on the area you are camping in fires can be restricted.  If the year has been particularly dry the camp grounds and forest services aren’t going to allow open fires.  This means you will need to have family camping stoves along for the trip.

Family camping stoves are considered any camping stove that has more than one burner.  The Coleman camping stoves you can buy have two or three burners.  This allows the entire family the ability to cook meals all at once.  Rather than heating a pot and cooking a portion of the meal you can cook a full course meal with ease.  The difference with family camping stoves as opposed to the others is the weight and creation of the stove.  As already mentioned you will have more than one burner.  It will also be a larger stove.  A Coleman gas grill for families is in a large square box.  This box is made of metal and really resembles a small version of a barbeque grill.  You will have a grill rack, propane tank, and two or more burners to light.  The weight of these gas grills is generally too much for a person to carry on a backpacking trip, but makes for an ideal family camping stove.

You will also find these family camping stoves work really well with Dutch oven camping.  A Dutch oven is a special pot that you can roast, fry, or even stew a meal in.  You might even think of spaghetti while you are camping with one of these.  It makes boiling water easier as well.  You can bring along any type of pot or cooking pan, but a Dutch oven was really made for camping, so you get better results.

Some additional things you may want to have along on your trip are going to be grill accessories.  You will find griddles, grill tops, stove grates, and more to help you with your camping experience.  You may just want a propane tee to help you hook up more than once stove.  Or you can always have a hose converter to help you hook up to a larger source of propane.  One thing about camping stoves is the small propane tanks.  They often run out of gas with a lot of use.  If you are gone for a week or more and cooking every meal with some length you will tend to run out of propane pretty quickly.  With the hose converter you can have a larger propane tank to avoid running out of gas with your grill.
